BURUNG DENDANG MAS
Black and Crimson Oriole (Oriolus cruentus)
The Black-and-Crimson Oriole (Oriolus cruentus) is a strikingly beautiful bird found primarily in Southeast Asia, including Malaysia, Indonesia, and Brunei. True to its name, this oriole has vibrant crimson plumage on its breast and underparts, contrasting sharply with its sleek black head, back, and wings. The bold coloration makes it quite the spectacle in its forest habitat.
These birds favor subtropical and tropical montane forests, often seen flitting through the dense foliage at elevations above 1,000 meters. They feed on fruits, insects, and sometimes nectar, playing a vital role in seed dispersal and pollination. Despite their elegance, they are elusive, more often heard than seen, with their melodious calls echoing through the forest.
